Sunday's
I spend Sunday's at the RRCA, after I do my groceries for the week. Yesterday I could've worked but I opted for an afternoon swim and sauna, doing my taxes as well. Today I scrawled out 10 "squiggles" to hand color the rest of the week (I need something simple to do Tuesday afternoon and Third Friday night, possibly Saturday). Only took two hours of my time, so the rest of the day I helped out the director by patching and painting the galleries for Third Friday. My legs ACHE from climbing a ladder, so I'm off to stretch and enjoy some light yoga.......

Inspired!

I hope spring comes soon as I finally feel inspired today. Think I had a bit of the winter blahs. I was putting one foot in front of the other, breathe in- breathe out, discipline in the back of my mind, waiting for that magical moment when I am on fire and want to work. It struck me today at the RRCA, so happy to be there and be a part of that organization! I colored some more monotypes. I am up to 80 or so prints by now, all numbered in sequence. They make more sense looking through then.
Helpful probably, I got my nose splint off yesterday. Wonderful taking a shower this morning! I am allowed to take vitamins again, go to the gym again, etc. No contact sports- as if! It is a little sore if I accidentally press too hard- which I did once, won't again, but otherwise there isn't any pain or headaches. The surgeon said it looks straight and made no mention of another visit so I guess I'm spared a future rhinoplasty. Whew. I did take a pic of my bare nose, but I look tired so I'll spare you all.....

Squiggles

Yesterday I spent most of the day in bed. That got boring real fast. So today I went to the RRCA printing studio. I had heat today- found out the reason it was recently so cold was because the air conditioning was on! Nice and toasty today. To keep myself connected but taking it somewhat easy I handpainted some monotype "sqiggles". These are free form drawings I do to clean my plates after printmaking, with the intention of "filling in" with color. Today I used guoache.
I'm doing well with the nose. Still no black eyes, relatively no pain. The splint ITCHES! Whew......

Center Member Show, Today's Work and Surgery
My studio at the RRCA is COLD. Can't sit long to watercolor or pastel, get chilled, but printmaking is ok because I'm standing and moving around. Today I pulled 10 prints. Maybe more tomorrow. Third Friday I spent a lot of time on the couch in the library reading, to stay warm. I usually work a pastel or watercolor while I wait for people to visit.
I have three pieces in the Center Artist Member Show in the Witt Gallery of the RRCA this month. Getting a nice reception for the work.
I am having nasal surgery Friday the 28th. I fractured the left side of my nose the 9th, went to a plastic surgeon the 20th. They're going to "pop" or reset the fracture as it is slightly displaced. I will have to wear a splint for a week- something I hoped to avoid! Do not know if I will have black eyes or not. It doesn't hurt save for when I wash my face, you can't tell it's broke by looking and I'm able to wear my glasses. Now. Maybe I will post a pic.......

Meet Priest!
New addition to my household today, Priest, formerly "Buddy". Adopted from a neighbor. Have had him here about an hour and so far so good. Right now he is busy playing with a brand new "Emory Cat" ("as seen on tv", lol, he loves it!) He's a year and a half old, very lovable. Meowed at the transition but soon warmed up to my feet and started purring.....:)
