Came down with a cold.....

Good timing for a mini vacation with books. Guess that's why I was tired.....

Dark Computer/Break

Just a few more "enhancements"- its my secret what the source image(s) is(are). Hopefully will delve further into the programs this week.

I'm somewhat tired as I write; I'll do some cardio next. I've been working non stop it seems, so the next few days- I'm going to do some studying! Feed the mind. Go to the gym- feed the body. Stretch everything. My back went out again (been a while) during printmaking yesterday, probably stress. And my downstairs neighbor is limiting my sleep. So a mini vacation with books is in order.

I was accepted into next month's "Wetlands" show at the RRCA with my "RiverMarsh" and have to get the frame ready. And I've submitted to an exhibition the Noyes Museum is holding- much work for that- but I will not know anything until the 11th....

Backwards and Forwards

This before I put on the boob tube tonight and write in my journal. I watch some TV at night (and read simultaneously)- it rests my brain. There was a time I had a great disdain for television. PBS is good on Saturday nights- classic movie favorites.

I've chosen still life references for the RRCA Realism show, CD due in August. I'm attracted to the color. Whether I can do realism again or not- or by August (with an apartment move sometime)- remains to be seen. This is mostly an exercise to see, because I have portrait work in the back of my mind. The portraits hanging in my RRCA studio were very well received last night.

And Plein Air season is around the corner. I didn't get out last year. I need to work on my sense of color outside. Digital art. Printmaking studio. Volunteer work.

I've been doing SO MUCH research online lately. Going to register with the Cumberland County Artist Directory very soon and have been perusing websites and bios. Researching website hosting too. Maybe.

Tonight's Sunset

More Still Life Pics

...I still have more pictures to take, I should cut some of the fruit open and take reference shots of the different textures. I was so tired after the first session of 116 pics- I didn't think of it...

Still Lifes?

I took off from the RRCA studio today, originally intending to catch up on my sleep, and to reacquaint myself with my camera and digital art programs. Friday night I worked as a consultant, tomorrow I'm working, Tuesday nights I hang out for art history films- lock up the building- and Friday coming up is Third Friday, so I took a break.

With the influx of new, YOUNG, neighbors, my sleep has suffered lately. My neighbor below me likes LOUD rap music late at night (I've knocked on his door three times now) and has quite an active all-hours-of-the-day headboard banging sex life. I don't knock on his door THEN. I have complained to the manager. Ah, soon I will be leaving....

I was able to sleep until 9 though this morning, and somewhere in my dreams I decided to take the day and photograph still lifes, for future reference. My battery died after a few initial pics, so while it was charging I did play with my digital art programs. Planning to spend more time on that. With the charged battery I took 116 photos, changing cloths, colors, vegetables and fruit.

Put in a long creative day.

Leftover Marsh Paint/110 Prints

With this weather it would've been a good day to sleep in, but I had paint left from the "River Marsh" to put to good use. I am up to 110 prints now. Had one visitor because of my sale, no sales though.

I like these fall monotypes, the green one- not so much, but I was losing energy by the fifth print.

"River Marsh"

Whew! Once I started painting I found it went easier than I thought (I was a little nervous) and finished the painting in one sitting. I have a pic of the under painting that's been sitting on my wall for about a year. This was fun, and a nice break from printmaking. I love the way that paint moves and try to paint instinctively, leaving the strokes where they happen. At a certain point I said- "That's it, done!" Now to submit to the RRCA. I like it, for me it has a wetlands feel.

I might switch up in a few months, there is a Traditional Realism show at the RRCA in September I think. I did buy a canvas. I just don't know if I'm too far gone in "expressionist" work. Will see.....
